Rams hold off 49ers
The Rams got back on the
winning track with a hard fought
victory over the San Francisco
49ers.
The offense was clicking with
Jarod Goff
passing for
over 300
yards and
three touch-
downs.
Running
back Todd
Gurley had
his best
game of the
year while Jim Ferguson
rushing for Columnist
113 yards.
Two Rams wide receiv-
ers, Robert Woods and newly
acquired Sammy Watkins, each
went over 100 yards on six recep-
tions and Watkins found the end
zone twice.
The outcome wasn't secured
until the Rams stopped the 49ers
on their two-point conversion
attempt and came out with a
41-39 victory.
The Rams head to Dallas next
to take on the Cowboys.
Chargers couldn't sap
Hunt's energy
Quarterback Alex Smith's
determined the outcome of the
Chargers and Chiefs with two
quick touchdown passes in the
first quarter.
Rookie running back Kareem
Hunt posted 172 yards rush-
ing in the game with a 69-yard
dash late in the fourth quarter
that squelched any hopes of the
Chargers to register their first
victory of the season.
Philip River, s the usually
accurate quarterback, had one of
his worst first halves throwing
three interceptions.
The Chargers now stand 0-3
and have not attracted a fan base
that will support them in their
transition from San Diego.
Up next are the Philadelphia
Eagles who are 2-1 and journey
to StubHub for the Sunday game.
Trojans too hot to handle
USC flexed their muscles in
the second half and put together
30-20 victory over the Cal Bears.
The teams were tied at 13 at
the half and then USC scored
three times in the fourth quarter
and pulled away for the win.
USC plays the undefeated
Washington State Cougars
on Friday night in Pullman,
Washington.
The Cougars are a highflying
act and can put up a lot of points
on the scoreboard in a hurry.
Weather conditions can also
be a factor as an early fall chill
could cool down the hot Trojans.
Stanford runs over UCLA
The UCLA Bruins got knocked
out of its rhythm by the Stanford
Cardinals in Palo Alto last week.

With Jim Ferguson
What was a fairly close game
at the half got sideways with
the relentless running game of
Stanford.
Bryce Love, the new work-
horse for the Cardinals gained
263 yards on the ground, which,
took the team to over 400 yards
rushing for the game.
Josh Rosen of the Bruins
launch 60 passes and connected
on 40 of them for 480 yards.
Stanford continued its histori-
cal dominance over the Bruins as
the with their 13th consecutive
victory over the Bruins.
The final score was 58 to 34.
In other PAC 12 action the
resurgent Arizona State Sun
Devils stopped the 24th ranked
Oregon Ducks in Tempe, Arizona
by the score of 37 to 35.
This ended a 10-year winning
streak for the Ducks.
To put into perspective the
Angels as of this writing have
lost one more game than they
have won. The Dodgers have won
42 more games than they have
lost, hence the playoffs for the
Dodgers and better luck next year
for the Angels.
The Los Angeles Chargers could not come up with
an answer for the Kansas City Chiefs. The team
struggled to get past an impressive Chiefs defensive
secondary and couldn't quell the efforts of its offen-
sive players like Kareem Hunt, who ran rampant and
posted 172 yards in rushing. Photo via Los Angeles

Sights set on the World
Series
One more week and the start
of the Dodgers pursuit of the
World Series begins.
The boys in blue captured
their fifth consecutive National
League Western Division title.
They are a lock to win at least
100 games in regular season play.
The last time the team accom-
plished such a feat was over 40
years ago.
Hopefully they have figured
out their bullpen and can main-
tain leads and play all through the
month of October.
Angels lose shot at the
postseason
The Angels had a chance for
postseason play but went on a
six game losing streak this past
week and their chances went out
the door.
Todd Gudey II went absolutely wild at last week's
Thursday Night Football game against the San
Francisco 49ers. His 113 yards rushing and three total
touchdowns helped the Los Angeles Rams secure its
second victory of the season. Doubly impressive is
the fact that the Rams won on a road game. Courtesy
