She was born in Los Angeles to Alice and Leo Roth. Nancy is a third generation Los Angelino; graduate of LA High School, UCLA and University of Washington. For many years she was a counselor and teacher in several high schools, Culver City adult school and last at LA Trade Tech, - helping welfare students learn a trade and gain employment. She was an active member and officer of the League of Women Voters and parliamentarian throughout the state. She was married to Donald Amheim for 33 years until his passing in 1990. Throughout her life, Santa Catalina Island has held a special place for her where she volunteered with the Catalina Conservancy, decorated floats, entertained and just relaxed: After retirement, Nancy* enjoyed the outdoor life through gardening, playing tennis and leading tours of downtown Los Angeles for the LA Conservancy. She enjoyed going to theater, playing bridge, trying new recipes, going to book club and most especially being with friends and making new ones. She is a past president of Friendship Force Los ~Angeles and served as Chair of the World Conference in 2004, hosting over 400 people from around the world. She travelled extensively, with over 25 trips with Friendship Force and has visited 85 countries. Nancy is survived by her son Bruce Arnheim [Sum i] (Torrance, CA) and daughter Stephanie Amheim [John Sheldon] (Portland, OR), their respective children Alyssa and Alex and her sister Jeanne Hilson (Martinez, CA). Bruce, Stephanie and sister Jeanne were with her when she passed. Nancy's Memorial Service is January 7th, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wflshire Boulevard Temple Irmas Campus, 11661 W Olympic Blvd Los Angeles 90064.
