Buddy Warner Buddy Warner lost his battle with cancer on Jan. 5, 2012. He grew up on Catalina. He is survived by his wife June, of 52 years, his six children, Jana Arnds; Cheryl Stelling; Caryt Warner, Jr.; Julie Warner; Jeffrey Warner and Christopher War- ner, his 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mildred Nicholson Summer .resident Mildred Nicholson passedaway in her sleep at the age of 97 on Jan. 9, 2012. Health issues prevented her from return- ing to the Island for the past 12 years. She leaves behind two chil- dren, five grand kids and six great grand kids. Joe Voci Joe Voci, born Feb.l 1, 1922, passed away on July 13, 2011. Memorial services were held Feb.' 4, at the St. Catherine of Alexandria Church. A reception followed at the "M" Restaurant. Jean Earline Williams Jean Earline Williams, a life- long resident of the South Bay, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. She was 90 when she died. One of her favorite places to go was Catalina Island. She is sur- vived by her son Eugene Williams of Hermo- sa Beach; daughter Gail Kelly of Redon- do Beach; daughter, Becky Wery of Canton, Ga.; sister, Doris Tutor of Camarillo, Calif.; cousin George Dold, of Avalon; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Donald 'Donnie' Dunlop Former Island resi- dent and Los Ange- les County Sheriff's Depart- ment Dep- uty Donald Dunlop died Jan. 19, 2012. He is surviged by his wife of 33 years, Bonnie, son Danny, and his two grandchil- dren Taylor and Danielle. Mary Cicconi On Jan. 25, 2012, following a brief ill- ness, Ani- ta Mary Grace Elvira Philomena CacozzaCic- coni passed away silently. She was 81. She was born in 1930 and came to the Island when she was 3 years old. She leaves behind her three daughters Gina, Marisa and Silvana, her two sisters Vallie and Amelia. her grandchildren: twins, Nick and Cody, twins Morgan and Peyton and Lana and Lars; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline Voishan Avalon resident Pauline Vois- han passed away in Sierra Vista, Ariz., on Feb. 8. Vois- han, who was born Jan. 3, 1917, first came m Avalon in the late 1940s va- cationing at the St. Catherine Ho-~ tel. She was burried at the Avalon Cemetery, where she jolned her son George. Linda Garvey Linda Garvey passed away on Jan. 26, 2012. Garvey was born July 6, 1943. In the winter of 1981, she and her husband John Garvey took a day trip to Catalina Island. They made the Island their home. Dolores Puffer Dolores Puffer, who was born May 13, 1927, died peacefully at home in El Segundo on Feb. 17. She enjoyed frequent trips to Catalina Island. She is survived by Walt, her loving husband of 62 years, her son Dr Jim Puffer and daughter Debi Koppel, her sister and brother, eight grandchildren, and three great grand-children. Albert Carnahan Simonds Albert Carnahan Simonds passed away on Feb. 18, 2012 at home in Montecito, Calif., at the age of 89. He was involved in the re-open- ing of the Santa Catalina Island School for Boys in 1964. He was married to Laura Supple Simonds. (deceased) with whom he raised three children: James W. Simonds, Frederic A. Simonds and Marga- ret S. Jorgensen. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he leaves his wife H6ppie Harpham Simonds of Montecito. Jesus Martin - Jesus Martin, who was born on May 13, 1931, in Pegeros, Mexico, passed away Feb. 20. Martin was a long time resident of Catalina, moving here in 1962, and worked 35 years as a landsc.aper for the Santa Catalina Island Company. He is survived by Maria, his wife of 47 years, his sons Frank and Horacio, both of Riverside, and Arturo of Avalon, his daugh- ters-in-law, Beth and Rhonda, his grandkids, Frankie, Cody, Mariah, Kayla, Jamie, Brett, and also his great-granddaughter Chloe. Lee Rosenthal Lee Rosenthal, author of "Catalina Tile of the Magic Isle" (1992) and "Catalina in the Mov- ies" (2003), two popular local histories, died peacefully on Feb. 15 in San Rafael after a long ill- ness. Rosenthal is survived by her son Joseph Rosenthal Jr., and grandson, Jerry Rosenthal, of Gig Harbor, Wash.; her daughter Anne (Nan) Rosenthal (husband Mi- chael Wolf) of San Rafael, Calif., and granddaughter Robyn Wolf of Austin, Texas. Richard 'Dick' Stone Dick Stone died on March 22, 2012, after a nine-year struggle with AI- zheimer's Disease. He di- vided his last 40 years be- tween Glendale and Catalina. He is sur- vived by his wife Dianne, children Rich, Jim, and Stephanie, stepsons Matt and Steve; 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was born in Monrovia, on March 2, 1922. He is survived by Harriet, his wife of 66 years, his daughter, Linda Skinner of Palm Springs, his son Steve Writer of Boise, his son, Tom Writer of Houston, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grand- children. Russell M. 'Bud' Pyle Ventura " County resi- dent Russell M. "Bud" Pyle died on Tues- day, May 1, 2012,at his Port Huen- eme home. He had suffered briefly from congestive heart failure. He was born on Catalina Island on Dec. 15, 1928. He attended Avalon Schools through high School, graduating with the class of 1946. Bud left the Island to study engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, but switched his major to journalism. He is survived by his five children: Kathleen Pyle of Princeton, OR, Christopher Pyle of Palm Springs, Timothy Py!e of San Diego, Terence Pyle of Madi- son, WI and Dr. Eileen Consorti of Piedmont, as well as his former wife Gert, sister, Virginia An- derson of Melbourne, Fla.; niece Janice Waitt of Ashland. Ore.: niece and nephew Terry and Brad Franklin of Florida, grandsons, Andrew and Gabriel Liu.
