"It is important to note that no
assumption of crimi-

should be drawn from
the content of the infor-
mation provided in this
report," said Capt. Doug
Fetteroll, commander
of the Station.
"Many people who
get arrested do not
get convicted or even
charged with crimes for
which they have been
arrested;' he said.

Deputies held a community
outreach event on Pebbly Beach
Road for the residents on the east
end of Avalon.
The event, which was spon-
sored by Catalina Beverage, was
to encourage the Neighborhood
Watch philosophy of looking out
for your neighbors. The Sheriff's
Department also wanted to reas-
sure the residents that despite the
area's slight separation from the
center of Avalon, they will do
everything possible, so they can
enjoy their quality of life.
Golf cart thefts
No golf carts were reported sto-
len this week. Reminder: Anyone
with information regarding the
taking of another person's golf
cart, is encouraged to notify the
detectives at the Avalon Sheriff's
Station. Under California Law, it
is a felony to "Joyride" and pros-
ecution will be sought.
The Catalina Flyer from Newport Beach had an engine malfunc-
tion on 12-15-14. The mechanical problem is on the starboard engine.
We are hoping to have the repairs finished by the middle of February.
Our starting date for the 2015 season is March 1, 2015.
The reason for the long repair time is we will need to take the boat
out of the water, cut a large hole in the hull, and remove the engine
before we can work on it. We will send out updates as each stage is
completed.
Thank You
From the Captain and crew, see you in March
