The following news items appeared in it which were not in the regular edition: SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mr, and Mrs. Billie Price, who have been vacationing on the mainland, re- turned home Monday. Mrs. J. F. McMinn, who had been spending a few clays in Los Angel~s, returned home Monday. Constable E. M. Harrison is making considerable improvements to one of his Beacon street cottages. The Avalon Transfer Company, James and McMinn, are planning the purchase of two new delivery trucks to take care of their increased bus- iness. Mr. J. N. Stewart, vice-president and traffic manager for the Wihning- ton Transportation Company, has de- signed an elaborate advertising folder for the company, showing the many attractions at Avalon. The new fohlcr will be distributed for the tourist bus- iness. Some one asked Manager P. \,Vest of the Catalina Tuna Club regarding the additions he was putting on his new house on Maiden Lane, and the genial sportsman said: 'Tm building a study." Wilmington, Cal., Dec. 4.--With the close of the tuna and albacore season here, the cannery operations have con> menced their work on the winter pack of sardines. The tuna and albacore pack has not been as large this season. Many of the fish were brought from Mexican waters. The barracuda were very plentiful and se~med to come from the waters surrounding the chan- nel Islands. The fabled Sargossa Sea has an act- ual existence in the middle of the At- lantic Ocean, but is not a menace to navigation, as pictured in sea stories; even the little caravels of Columbus sailed straight through it.
