PENS PADS ENVELOPES Windle's NOTICE INVITING STREET WORK PROPOSALS Pursuant to statutes and Resolution No. 308 of the Board of Trustees of the City of Avalon, County of Los Angeles, State of California, adopted on the 7th day of November, 1924, direct- ing this notice, the, undersigned in- vites, and will receive at her office in the City Hall in the City of Avalon, County of Los Angeles, State of Cali- fornia, up to 1:30 o'clock P.M. on Fri- day, the 12th clay of December, 1924, sealed proposals or bids for the fol- lowing street work, to be done accord- qng to plans and specifications posted and on file therefor, adopted as here- inbefore mentioned, to-wit : FIRST: All that portion of the roadway of Marilla Avenue between a line drawn across said Marilla Avenue distant ten (10) feet Southwesterly from and parallel with the Northeast- erly line of Lot Thirty-eight (38), Block Thirty-three(33), of the Town of Avalon, as per map of said town re- corded in Beok Thirty-four (34), Page Sixty-seven (67) et seq., Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, Cali- fornia, prolonged Northwesterly across said Marilla Avenue, and the South- westerly line of Lot Forty-five (45), said Block Thirty-three (33), Town of Avalon, prolonged Northwesterly across said Marilla Avenue, be graded to the official grade in accordance with plans, profiles and cross-sections number 107- B, and in further accordance with spe- cial specifications therefor, adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Avalon by Resolution No. 277 on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Avalon. SECOND: That a cement curb be constructed along both lines of the roadway of said Marilla Avenue be- tween a line drawn across said Marilla Avenue distant ten (I0) feet South- westerly from and parallel with the Northeasterly line of Lot Thirty-eight (38), Block Thirty-three (33), of Town of Avalon, as per map of said town recorded in Book Thirty-four (34) Page Sixty-seven (67), et seq., Mis- cellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, prolonged North- westerly across said Marilla Avenue ,and the Southwesterly line of Lot For- ty-flve (45), Block Thirty-three (33), Town of Avalon prolonged Northwest- erly across said Marilla Avenue, in accordance with plans, profiles and cross-sections number t07-]3, and in further accordance with special spe- cications therefor, adopted by the Board of Trustees of said City of Av- alon by Resolution No. 277 on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Avalon. THIRD: That a cement side- walk five (5) feet in width be constructed along theSoutheasterly line of Marilla Avenue from a line drawn across said Marilla Avenue distant ten (10) feet South- westerly from and parallel with the Northeasterly line of Lot Thirty-eight (38), in said Block Thirty-three (33), of Town of. Avalon, as per map recorded in Book Thirty-four(34) Page Sixty-seven (67), et seq., Mis- cellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, prolonged North- westerly across said Marilla Avenue and the Southwesterly line of Lot For- ty-five (45), said Block Thirty-three (33), of Town of Avalon, prolonged Northwesterly across said Marilla Ave- nue, m accordance with plans, profiles and cross-sections number I07-B, and in further accordance with special spe- cifications therefor adopted bv the Board of Trustees of said City of Av- alon by Resolution No. 277 on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Avalon, and said cement side- walk shall be located with the inner edge thereof two (2) feet ]~orthwest- erly from and parallel with the adja- cent property line. FOURTH: That a cement gutter two (2) feet in width be constructed along both lines of the roadway of said Marilla Avenue between a line drawn across said Marilla Avenue distant ten (10) feet South- westerly from and parallel with the Northeasterly line of Lot Thirty-eight (38), Block Thirty-three (33), of Town of Avalon, as per map recorded in Book Thirty-four (34) Page Sixty- seven (67), et seq., Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles Cotfnty, California, prolonged Northwesterly across said Marilla Avenue and the Southwesterly line of Lot For- ty-five (45), said Block Thirty-three (33), of Town of Avalon, prolonged Northwesterly across said Marilla Ave- nue, in accordance with plans, profiles and cross-sections number 107-B, and in further accordance with special spe- cications therefor, adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Av- alon by Resolution No. 277 on file in the office of the City Clerk of the said City of Avalon. FIFTH: That a wood bulkhead be constructed along the South- easterly line of Marilla Avenue be- tween a line drawn across said Marilla Avenue distant ten (10) feet South- westerly from and parallel with the Northeasterly line of Lot Thirty-eight (38), Block Thirty-three (33), of Town of Avalon, as per map recorded in Book Thirty-four(34) Page Sixty-seven (67), et seq., Mis- cellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, prolonged North- westerly across said Marilla Avenue and the Southwesterly line of Lot For- ty-five (45), said Block Thirty-three (33), of Town of Avalon, prolonged Northwesterly across said Marilla ~ve- hue, in accordance with plans, profiles and cross-sections number 107-B, and in further accordance with special spe- citations therefor, adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Av- alon by Resolution No. 277 on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Avalon. SECTION 2: All plans, profiles and cross-sections referred to in this Res- olution are on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City. All special specifications referred to in this Resolution are on file in the office of the City Cl~rk of said City of Avalon. All special specifications, plans, pro- files and cross-sections referred to in this Resolution were adopted for said work by Resolution No. 277 of the Board of Trustees of the City of Ava- lon, State of California, on file in the office of the City Clerk of saiA City. That the diagram or map indicating the boundary lines and th.e extent of the territory to be included in this as- sessment district, prepared by the City Engineer in accordance with Resolu- tion of Intention No. 278 of the Board of Trustees of the City of Avalon, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, is on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Av- alon. All of the plans, profiles, cross-sec- tions, special specifications, maps and resolutions herein above referred to are made a part hereof and expressly referred to herein for a more particu- lar description of said work. SECTION 3: The Board of Trus- tees of the City of Avalon determines that serial bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of Twenty-five ($,25.00) Dollars or over for the cost of said work or improvement; said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years from and after the second day of January next suc- ceeding the date of said bonds, and an even annual proportion of the princi- pal sum thereof shall be payable, by coupon, on the second day of January every year after their date until the whole is paid; and the interest shall be payable semi-annually, by coupon, on the second days of Janu- ary and July, respectively, of each year, at the rate of seven (7) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid, until the whole of said principal and inter- est are paid. Said bonds shall be is- sued in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled, "An Act to provide a system of street improve- meet bonds to represent certain as- sessments for the cost of street work and improvement within municipali- ties, and also for the payment of such bonds," approved February 27, 1893, and of all Acts supplementary thereto or. amendatory thereof. That the proceedings for the afore- said improvement shall be had and ta- ken under an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled, "An Act to provide for work upon streets, lanes, alleys, courts, places, and side- walks, and for the construction of sew- ers within municipalities," approved March 18, 1885, (commonly known as PAG NINF. the Vrooman Act), and under all Acts supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof. Bidders must file with each propo- sal or bid a certified check, payable to the order of the President of the Board of Trustees of the City of Av- alon, County of Los Angeles, State of California, certified by a responsible bank, for an amount which shall not be less than ten (10) per cent of the aggregate of the proposal, or a bond for the said amount, payable to the President of the Board of Trustees of the City of Avalon, County of Los Angeles, State of California, signed by the bidder and by two sureties who shall justify before any officer compe- tent to administer oaths, for double the said amount, and over and above all statutory exemptions.
