Coming out of the game, how- ever, were a lot of positives - the most significant being that the team came together as a unit and played strong Avalon Lancers football. It was truly a team effort and the brotherhood within the squad grew stronger. This game saw emotions running on high because it was Homecoming night. Jose Gomez played another great game at quarterback and Jason Campus once again domi- nated on the ground breaking off multiple long runs and proving very difficult for the opposition to bring down. Stepping up on both offense and defense DeAngelo Reyes took over at fullback grinding the ball right up the middle of the Foothill defense and establishing himself as a dominant runner. Reyes also threw for a touch- down on a pass to Beta Martinez who made a great catch and ran the ball in for a touchdown. Diego Rios was a force on the offensive line, clearing out defenders and opening holes all night for Avalon's running backs and he made a huge impact on the game. Jose Silva continued to bring his "A" game as he does to every game and his intensity and effort along with charismatic leadership are certainly noticed and appreciated by the coaches.
