BY JORDAN MONROE
Sunday at 9 a.m., the Beatles
start their invasion all over again.
Leading the LP charge are Alex
Sanchez and Johnny Vickers,
who share with the Catalina Is-
lander the fun of waking up after
a sleepover with your best friend,
playing some great records and
laughing the whole tim KISL
sat down with veteran disc jock-
ey Alex, a product of the free DJ
classes offered by KISL (see the
end of article for more info),.and
his brother Johnny to learn more
about the good times you can have
with good friends and good mu-
sic.
KISL: Can you introduce your
co-host?
Alex: This is my brother John-
ny who has been a professional
musician for well over 30 years.
He has a very keen knowledge of
the Beatles and music of that era.
Johnny: Wow, that's a tough
one. •
Alex: Wow, that should be
easy.
Johnny: One of my {avorite
people and I love dearly. I look
• forward to every Sunday morning.
KISL: What is the purpose of
your show?
Johnny: If there is a purpose,
it is just to get up, have some fun,
listen to music, drink some coffee
and hang with my brother.
Alex: ... to hang with my broth-

I just want people to be entertained
and have some laughs with us.
Johnny: Hear, hear!
(clink of bottles)
KISL: How is it doing a show
with a co-host?
Alex: It is nice to have some-
one to bounce things off of. They
may take the conversation a totally
different direction than you would
have thought of.
Johnny: I don't know it any
other way.
KISL: What can we expect to
hear during your show?
Johnny: Beatles
Alex: No, that'll be last. You can
expect to hear me and my brother
laughing about pretty much noth-
ing in particular. You'll probably
hear me telling a story or two. Oh,
and the Beatles, their music. Plus,
the Super-Secret Show.
• Johnny: What he said, and
Johnny Vickers and Alex Sanchezprepare to kick
then some.
KISL: What advicewould you
give to someone doing a show with
a co-host?
Alex: I would say, (choose)
somebody that you work well with.

off another show at the KISL studio.
Or, somebody that you absolutely
and uncontrollably despise, .but
who" is willing to work with you on
a show. That would make good ra-
dio, too. But really, someone that
you have a good rapport with.
Johnny: But if that rapport
goes bad ...
Alex: Yeah, but we're stuck
with each other.
Alex and Johnny: (clink of
bottles)
• KISL: If you had to describe
your co-hosts voice to the readers,
how would you describe it?
Alex: Fine Corinthian leather.
Johnny: That's been sat on too
much.
Alex: Honest answer, he sounds
like a little kid who is playing and
having a really good time.
Johnny: That's how it feels to
be on the show. Alex's voice is
very comforting, like talking to an
old friend.
KISL: Question we ask every-
one (courtesy of Sarah L.): If you .
were in a white room with no win-
dows or doors, and the walls were
of an infinite height, what song
would you listen to, to lift you out
of the room?
Alex: "Blue Jay Way" by the
Beatles. It makes me feel like I'm
floating on a cloud.
Johnny: "Flying" by the Bea-
ties.
Alex: Hey, and both those
tracks are on the same album The
Magical Mystery Tour.
Johnny: And back to back.
Alex and Johnny: *clink of
bottles.
Alex and Johnny have gracious-
ly invited anyone to be a guest on
their show. Unofficial prerequisite,
bring some breakfast to share.
