Kelly named associate editor of Catalina Islander and Sun FOR THE ISLANDER Charles M. Kelly has been promoted to Associate Editor of the Seal Beach Sun and the Catalina Islander newspapers Charles M. by Associate Kelly P u b 1 i s h e r Associate Editor Steven Remery. Kelly started out with the newspapers' parent company, Orange County Neighborhood Newspapers, as a Sun proofreader/ freelancer in 2005. He began com- piling the Sun Crime Log in July of that year. His duties expand- ed over time to include covering City Council and general news for both the Sun and the Islander. He became a full time employee with his promotion to Assistant Editor in 2009. "I appreciate the confidence my superiors have shown m giving me this promotion," he said. "It means a great deal to me." Kelly has lived in Seal Beach for 19 years. He " moved to Old Town a few years ago and now lives near the beach. -~ ~ He graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 1989. He began working at age 12 m ~ his father's business. "Charles is a hard worker and rightfully earned his promotion," said Remery. "He has my total confidence that he will continue producing high qual- ity work."
