We've been coming to your Island since Sept. 20, 1959. Our event this year is on Sept. 10 and II. The women's race will be finishing at approximately 1:00 pm on Satur- day at Casino Point, At that point in time, our cahoes have been giv-- en city permission to land and be stored on South Beach over night. We are planning to have a broadcast and info booth at the Ethel Rosin Irmas Memorial Park at the end of that beach so we can giv e the city residents and visitors information about our ensuing event. As soon as the final crew reaches the beach, we will transfer to the Field of Dreams for an award ceremony. Our desire is to keep racing to the Island for years to come. The infrastructure and economics of your Island mal(e it tough for our group. We've had over 1,500 peo- ple that come here for this week- end since 1980. I don't have the numbers prior to those years but our historical committee is work- ing on that. Our Catalina Commit- tee "has been working with your city officials and friends to accom- modate our desires. We've secured the sites and are wrapping up some structural points, so if there are any questions about this event please feel free to contact me or visit our website.
