im STRAIGHT UP BUILDERS AND CATALINA EXPRESS WIN FRIDAY NIGHT GAMES BY PATTI ENGEL Round three has begun. Bra- vo's Landscaping started Friday night, Aug. 3, facing off against Straight Up Builders. In the first inning Bravo's Landscaping left two runners stranded. Straight Up Builders got on the board with the solo inside the park home run from Isaac Felix. In the second Bravo's Landscaping got a runner home, but again left two stranded. Jimmy Felix opened for Straight Up Builders with a shot over the left field fence. A walk was con- verted into a run for the second score of the inning. Neither team scored in the third. in the fourth, Bravo's Land- scaping turned an error into a run. JD Laflin had a great diving catch at short to rob Kenny Engel of an RBI opportunity. In the bottom of the fourth with a run home, Weston Leonhardi showed off his arm with .the assist to catcher Nathan Macktal to get the runner out at home. Bravo's Landscaping tied the game with two runs in the fifth. Bravo's Landscaping took the lead with a run in the sixth. Straight Up Builders took the lead right back with three runs in the bottoin of the inning. Bravo's Landscaping kept it close with an- other run in the seventh. With two outs, Straight Up Builders took advantage of two walks and four base hits to score five runs. Bra- vo's Landscaping continued strug- gling with their offense, scoring only one run in the eighth. Dave Hubert made a great catch against the fence at third to record the sec- ond out of the inning. For the first time in the game, Bravo's Land- scaping only allowed three batters for Straight Up Builders to come ORDINANCE NO. 1114-12 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AVALON AMENDING CHAPTER 1, TITLE 2, SECTION 2-1.01 OF THE AVALON MUNICI- PAL CODE TO CHANGE THE TIME- OF REGULAR MEETINGS ON THE FIRST AND THIRD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH TO 6:00 PM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Avalon ("City") has deter- mined to hold regular meetings in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on the first and third Tuesday of each month, commencing at 6:00 p.m.; WHEREAS, the date and times for regular meetings can change at the discretion of the City Council. NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNICL OF THE CITY OF AVALON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 2-1.01 .Section 2-1.01 of the AMC is hereby amended to read as follows. Section 2-1.01 Regular Meetings. The City Council of the City of Avalon shall hold regular meetings in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, commencing at 6:00 p.m and on such other days, at such other times, as may be held in accordance with the provisions of the Brown Act. Whenever more than seventy two hours notice is given, the meeting held shall be a regular meeting. When the date for any regular meeting falls on a legal holiday as established by any law of the State, then such meeting shall be held at the same hour on the next succeeding busi- ness day, with the same effect as if it has been held oh the day herein appointed. Straight Up'Builders returned the favor, collecting three quick outs to end the game with the score Bravo's Landscaping 6, Straight Up Builders 12. For Bravo's Landscaping, Weston Leonhardi was two for two with two walks. Robert Reyes, Rich Hernandez, Jose Cuevas, Marco Gallegos and Na- than Macktal also collected two hits. With one hit each were Bob Kennedy and Kenny Engel. For Straight Up Builders, Isaac Felix and Beto Martin had three hits. Jimmy Felix collected two hits. Larry Hernandez was one for one with three walks. Also collecting one hit were Allan Vega, Mario Jimenez, Yafet Mengesha and Ma- rio Chavez. Catalina Express wins sec- ond game The second game of the night was between seven=man team Glenmore Hotel and eight-man team Catalina Express. Description: The City proposes to complete both the 2008-2014 and 2014-2021 Cycles of the Hot)sing Element together. Due to time constraints it has become prudent for the City to review both Housing Cycles at the same time. The Housing Element is one of the seven state mandated elements of the General Plan. This review is part of the overall General Plan update that is currently in progress. State Housing Element law (Government Code Section 65580 et seq) requires "An assessment of housing needs and an inventory of resources and constraints relevant to the meeting of these needs." California Government Code 65352 requires a 45 day review of an amendment-Qf the general plan prior to its adoption. The draft hous- ing element document will be posted on the City's website (www. cityofavalon.com) beginning August 22, 2012. Environmental Information: The City of Avalon, as the Lead Agency will prepare an Eovlronmental mpact Report for the General Plan up- date that will include the two Housing Element cycles. A subsequent notice and review of the EIR will be provided on the City's website and posted with the City Clerk for public review of the environmental document. Glenmore Hotel's Mario Jimenez Jr. had an inside the park homer for two of Glenmore Hotel's three runs. In the sixth and final inning, Garrett Amoroso made the long run in left to track down the fly bail and deny Eddie Hall the extra base hit. Glenmore Hotel put up one more run before the third out was recorded. Final score Glen- more Hotel 8, Catalina Express 27. For Glenmore Hotel, Mario Jimenez Jr. collected three hits. Garrett Amoroso, Sean Amor0so and Santiago Martinez all had two hits. Jim Amoroso and Edmundo Vega collected one hit. Eor Catali- na Express, Josh Flynn was seven for seven. Justin Hernandez was right behind him with six hits. Ed- die Hall had five hits, while-Adam Nelson and Bart Glass each had four hits.
