STAFF REPORT Play reflects movie about man's friend- ship with large rabbit i This weekend the stage will be alive with one of America's favor- ite cinematic classics. Harvey by Mary Chase will be performed by the Avalon Community Theater group. Harvey is a charming tale of a loveable man who has been friend by Harvey, a six foot tall white rabbit. Harvey is a Pooka, a mys- tical creature found in Celtic lore. Elwood P. Dowd seems to be the only one to see this creature. To everyone else he is invisible, which in turn make them believe that Elwood is crazy and they try to commit him to the sanitarium. As the story unfold we are shown the true heart of the tale and that family above all else is impor- tant. What is important to our pro- gram is celebrating the talents of our locals. Please come out and support your friends, neighbors and coworkers. It is also amazing to see so many alumni return to the stage and how fun is it for us as an audi- ence to now see them as adults. Last week we introduced you to some of the cast members. Here is the rest of the cast the Avalon Community Theatre; Rachel "Rocky" Siilas is attending California State University, Dominguez and is home for the summer. She is working at Descanso Beach. Rocky was involved in theAHSTheater Department where she per-Rachel "Rocky" Sillas formed in West Side Story, When in Rome and Bye Bye Birdie. Rocky is an athlete she plays softball and basketball. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Jenea Dominguez is a recent college graduate from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she received a degree in psychology. She currently is back home and is the man- ager of the Overlook Hall. She spends her weekends work- ing at DBOS. In the AHS Theater Dept. she stared in Jenea Dominguez West Side Story as Anita and college she performed in Almost Marie and Heartbreak House. She enjoys reading books, being at the beach and being with her family. Alex Morand is 20 years old and is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree is screenwriting at Emerson College in Boston. He is home for the summer as a self-employed musician (or what some may call a "panhan- dler"). Some of his local theater credits include a tree in A Tall Tale, a monster called Alex Morand the Horrible Hopping Hindsightin thePhantomTollbooth and a Mick Jagger impersonator in many Kids at Play shows. He is a big fan of Muppet movies and Doritos. Sadie Parsons is current- ly attending Ohio Wesleyan University with a double major in Geology and Environmental stud- ies. She is home for the summer and is working on the boat crew for the S.C.I. Co. She has performed as Mrs. Peacock in Clue, Mrs. Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie and Lefou in Beauty and the Beast. Sadie has always loved Catalina's Sadie Parsons beauty and the fact she can say the ocean is her front yard and the hills are her backyard. She wishes to continue her journey on the stage, both her and in college. Jordan Monroe came to Catalina the first time six years ago to do water testing in the har- bor, but when that project ended he totally forgot to get back on the boat and has been enjoying the island ever since. This is Jordan's third production on the stage but Jordan Monroe has been sound engineer for many of Sean Brannock's produc- tions. Sound is one of his other interests. He helps run KISL 88.7 FM, Catalina's community radio station. While working for the City of Avalon he looks for ways to make Avalon beautiful and sits the board for the local non-profit organization Avalon Beautiful. In September, Jordan married Jennifer Lavelle. Scott "Tom" Dennis is per- forming for his 9th year with this group. He has done both the musicals and comedies. Which include the Music Man, Arsenic and Old Lace and Bye Bye Birdie, to name a few. He is a director for the Catalina Island Conservancy by day and a wild karaoke singer by night.
