Beatles From page 6 the words...."Tell Monica I said good-bye" a number of times. Of course, I KNEW the kiss was for her too! Damn! The great steel door lifted and the screams were now louder than the motorcycles. We stood there motionless as we watched our four super-heroes disappear. We could not believe what we had just experienced. Now, 50 years later, when I recant this adventure.., it still seems so surreal. The pure magic of that evening thrills me to this day. You shared the article from the Lomita News in September of 1964. How did your story end up in the paper? Our neighbor, Nellie Dillon, heard the story and reported it to the newspaper. I fig- ured that the event would be a great time to also celebrate our own 50th anniversary of meeting the Beatles. My sister and I got our tickets in March and were eagerly anticipating the event ever since! What did you say when you had the opportunity to meet Pattie Boyd during the book signing after the screening and interview? What was her reaction to your story? One of the main questions that I had asked was if Ms. Boyd had any idea, or perspective about "why" the Beatles stood above and apart from all other groups. Her answer was that the Beatles had a unique connectivity and were highly supportive of each other. - -.. ..... . .. ...... That type of "oneness" and the uniqueness of the blend of their personalities made them unusual and special. Monica made a point of tell- ing Ms. Boyd that George was 'always her "favorite" to which Ms. Boyd responded, "Yes, MINE too!" That brought a hearty laugh to us all! I had primed out a copy of our news story and presented my copy of her book to autograph. She signed the article; "Happy 50th Anniversary!" We didn't get into the details of our Beatles meeting, but Ms. Boyd congratulated us on our anniversary. Pattie Boyd was very lovely and gracious. It was both a plea- sure and an honor to be present at the Catalina event.
