PET OF THE WEEK: Berkeley Meet Berkeley, an 8 yr. old Australian Sheppard who lives with his owner Gary Black and Gary's daughter Katie on Avalon Canyon Rd. near Joe Machado Field. Berkeley is veryfriendly and enjoys riding in the golf cart, walks and visits from people and dogs. He has been mis- taken for Bella, another Island Aussie and on one occasion was taken by a well intentioned person that eventually turned him in to the Avalon Sheriff's Station where he was incarcer- ated, but eventually all charges were dropped. Carol Reynolds, Foundation Chairperson recently presented an $80,000 check to J.Paul DeMyer, President of the Avalon Medical- Development Corporation (AMDC) for the enhancement project currently underway at the Medical Center. The public and patient rooms are undergoing a facelift thanks to the generosity of many in the Avalon community and overtown supporters. Funds were generated from various solicitations and the most recent very profitable An Evening with Oscar held in early March.
