Inagural Gran Fondo bike ride The US Cup and Team Big Bear presented the inaugural Catalina Island Gran Fondo on Saturday. May 12. The n0n-competitive bicycie ride drew more than 500 participants who chose from three separate rides; the 13-mileRidge Route; the 35=rnile Middle Island Route and the 55-mile Two Harbors Route. Ninety- five percent of the rides took place on Conservancy Land outside of Avalon. Roads impacted include Stagecoach.Road, the Airport Road, sheep Chute, Little Harbor Road, Middle Ranch Road, the Divide Road, East End Road, Renton Mine Road, and in Town, Wrigley Road, Beacon Street, Metropole Avenue, and Casino Way.
