Fortunately, winter storms have provided some welcome relief. Based on water levels in the reservoir, Southern California Edison (SCE) received authorization from the California Public Utilities Commission to deactivate Stage 3 Mandatory Water Conservation and Rationing, which is triggered when the reservoir falls below 200 acre feet, and return to Stage 1 Mandatory Conservation. Stage 1 was activated on March 7, 2017. Customers are no longer subject to daily allotments, but Stage I does have restrictions on the use of water fit for drinking. Island residents, who already had some of the best water use practices in the state, have been effective in reducing our water use. Please continue to use water wisely during Stage 1 Mandatory Conservation. -~: ~O~00 2 ---- Visitor Counts Wa er Usage (Acre Feet) Water Supply Status and Stage 1 Results As of April 19, 2018 the Middle Ranch Reservoir water level was 688.86 acre feet. In March, 2018, water use declined 20 percent even with a 25 percent increase in visitors to the island; 21 acre feet of water was used compared to 26 acre feet in March, 2013. In March, 2018 water use increased 47 percent with an 11 percent decrease in visitors to the island; 21 acre feet of water was used compared to 14 acre feet in March, 2017. Between April, 2017 and March, 2018, water use declined 30 percent even with a 33 percent increase in visitors to the island; 268 acre feet of water was used compared to 382 acre feet in June, 2012 - May, 2013 (baseline).
