Newly re-powered boat will make the trip in about 40 minutes FOR THE ISLANDER Starting today, Friday, May 4, Catalina visitors and residents will be able to board the Cyclone in either Avalon or Two Harbors and be on the other end of the island in 40 minutes, making it possible to explore both ends of Catalina in the same day. The Cyclone has the potential to redefine the visitor experience by giving guests the opportu- nity to explore two unique des- tinations during one visit to the island. City of Avalon residents will be able to escape for some quiet time on the West End, while Two Harbors residents will be able to enjoy the conveniences of Avalon. April 25 Deputies wrote a theft report when a student reported some- one stole her cell phone out of her backpack while at school. April 26 Deputies arrested Ruben Chavolla, of Avalon, on suspi- cion of allegedly breaking into a vacant residence in the 200 block of Clarissa Avenue. Evidence shows that he broke into the resi- dence on consecutive days. April 27 April 28 Deputies responded to a call on the 360 block of Clemente Avenue where a new homeowner found a gun left by the previous owners. The gun was taken and stored as found property. No gun laws were violated. April 29 Deputies responded to a fam- ily disturbance call in the 230 block of Sumner Avenue. They contacted the disturbing parties and learned no criminal laWs were violated. They assisted in solving the family's issue with each other. April 30 .On April 25, 2018, an indi- vidual broke into 127 Sumner Avenue and stole one month's i supply of food, On April 30, - 2018, Brandon Venable, of Avalon, was placed under arrest by deputies on suspicion of bur- glary. Venable also tiad an out- standing $50,000 warrant for his arrest. April May l Deputies arrested Jose Radillo, of Avalon, on suspicion of being extremely intoxicated and causing a disturbance at JL's Dockery, of Huntington Beach, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, being involved in a traffic collision that caused serious injuries and flee- ing the scene on foot. The Victim had to be airlifted to a hospital on the mainland.
