I BY PATTI ENGEL FOR THE ISLANDER Bravo's Landscaping took on Virgie's Snack Bar in game one of Co Ed Softball. Bravo's Landscaping opened with back to back home runs from Juan De La Cruz and Nick Morones. Chuy Sillas followed with a double and scored on a base hit. Virgie~s Snack Bar scored big on four base hits, a home run from Robert Reyes and a double from Maria Reyes to bring home seven. Virgie's Snack Bar put up two more runs on two base hits ahd a double from Beto Martin. Inning three saw Virgie's Snack Bar again put up two runs, this time an inside the park home run from Edgar Alvarez, followed by two base hits and a double from Oscar Tejeda. Inning four was another big inning for Virgie's Snack Bar. Four base hits and doubles from Beto Martine and Robert Reyes brought home five run- ners. In the fifth inning Bravo's Landscaping added two to their total off four base hits. Virgie's Snack Bar promptly answered back with a two RBI homerun from Beto Martin. In the sixth, Chuy Sillas hit an inside the park home run for Bravo's Landscaping. Virgie,s Snack Bar answered with three base hits for a run. In the top of the seventh and final inning, Bravo's Landscaping wasn't able to put any runs on the board. The game ended with the score Bravo's Landscaping 6, Virgie's Snack Bar 20. For Bravo's Landscaping, Nick Morones and Jess Marical had three hits. Chuy Sillas and Rolando Gonzalez collected two hits. With one hit were Juan De La Cruz, Tyler Engel, Jesse Gallegos and Chela Hernandez. For Virgie's Snack Bar, Robert Reyes was four for four. Joe Hernandez, Beto Martin, Isaac Felix, Edgar Alvarez and Maria Reyes contributed three hits, Yafet Mengesha, Miguel Bonilla, Oscar Tejeda, Rachel Mc Cormick and Cathy Ponce had one hit. Game two Game two was a battle between Straight Up Builders and Coyote Joe's. Straight Up Builders opened the game with an inside the park homerun from Gilbert Hernandez. Three base hits followed for two more runs. Coyote Joe's answered with a homerun from Julian Tejeda. Straight Up Builders put up a run in the second. In the bottom of the inning Coyote Joe's took the lead when four runs scored on four walks, an error, a base hit and a double from Jose Octavo. The lead went back to Straight Up Builders in the third. A com- bination of four base hits and a double from Sebastian Sanchez brought home four. Coyote Joe's answered back with an RBI double from Teresa Hernandez. In the sixth inning Straight Up Builders put up one more run. Coyote Joe's again ~tied it up in th~ bottom of the inning with three runs off an error, two base hits and a double "from Tino Rodriguez. In the top of the sixth, Straight Up Builders regained the lead when Gilbert Hernandez hit a double and scored on the home- run from Anthony Hernandez. With two on and two out in the bottom of the sixth, and time expired, Straight Up Builders kept Coyote Joe's from scor- ing. The game ended with the score Coyote Joe's 9, Straight Up Builders 11. With the league title still in contention, the rain out game from March 22 will be played Thursday, May 3. For Coyote Joe's, Jose Octavo and Julian Tejeda both collect- ed three hits. Tino Rodriguez Martinez contributed one hit. and Cindy Morris had two hits, while Glen Hernandez, Ron' Stand|ngs Bevins, Hugh Bevins and Teresa Hernandez had one hit. For Straight Up Builders, Anthony Hernandez was four for four. Gilbert Hernandez, Bart Glass and Sebastian Sanchez collected three hits. Danny Felts and Valeria Medina had two hits.
