Unfortunately, "The dog ate my report card" will not be con- sidered a valid excuse for failing to comply. The CDFW urges cardholders to review their cards carefully and ensure that all information is com- plete and accurate. According to CDFW officials, the information that is collected from these cards is used by the Department to mon- itor and manage California's spiny lobster population. -A "non-return fee" of $20 will be charged to any cardholder who fails to their card by the April 30 deadline. The fee will be charged upon the issuance of a Spiny Lobster Report Card for next fishing season, although cardholders may also choose to skip one fishing season thereby enabling themselves to purchase a lobster card the following season at no extra cost.
