SOME PRIZE WINNERS ARE JUST HEARD FROM 2487 Kubio Ave. Honolulu, T. H. March 10th, 1924. Editor Catalina Islander: Through the courtesy of Mr. F. S. Ellard I received the paper contain- ing the photo contest prize awards. I am pleased to see that two of my photos took prizes in this contest, and I herewith extend to the judges men- tioned many thanks for their decision. As you will see, I am quite a ways from Catalina Island, and, having ~tor- ed all my belongings, I am sorry to say that it would be impossible to send you the two films in question at present. I shall be away for some time to come, and beg your indulgence to de- fer this matter until I return. Kindly advise me if this will meet with your approval. With best regards to Mr. Reyes and yourself, I remain, Verb, truly yours OTTO LEHMANN. Western Springs, Ill. March 18, 1924. Editor Catalina Islander: Much to my surprise, I read in a re- cent Islander that I had won a0first prize in your photo contest. Was ex- tremely pleased to hear it. I believe the Winners are supposed, by the rules, to give the original film, so I am en- closing it herewith. I missed my trip to Catalina exceed- ingly, and only hope I am fortunate enough to make it in 1925. I see the boys harpooned each other. Best re- gards. Sincerely, MALCOLM MacLEAN. (Editor's Note--Hello Mac ! We, too, hope that you will be with us in 1925. The baseball writers who left last week, all had a real good time. Thev often talked about the boys back in Chicago. Spoke kindly o{ them, too! In a letter, we have sent you the 'prize money.' We had planned to send it to you in care of one of the scribes, but-- "well," as one of them said, "suppose | lose it in Los Angeles or some one knocks me on the head before I reach Chicago!" That settled the argnment! We wanted you to get the money !) EDITORS JUST LOVE 'EM Cheyenne, Wyoming, March 16, 1924.
