BRIAN FIIRSTY 1966-2014 Dear Friend of Bluewater Grill and Bluewater Avalon: We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Bluewater Grill Execu- tive Chef Brian Hirsty. Chef Brian died Monday March 10 after battling a rare bone marrow disease. His passing continues to be a shock to the entire Bluewater Grill family. He is survived by his wife Amy, also a Bluewater staff member, and his son, Dylan and daughter Chelsi. Brian joined Bluewater in 1996 to open our first restaurant in Newport Beach. He went on to being an integral partner in opening eight more restaurants. We will greatly miss Brian's compassion, gentle manner, friendship and passion for life. Our prayers continue to be with his family and friends who will miss his extraordinarily generous spirit both in and out of the kitchen. Jerry Thissen, Jr. Jerry was born in Merced, CA on December 21, 1951 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 12, 2014, in Encinitas, CA. He graduated from Chowchilla High in 1970 and attended CSU, Fresno. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church in Encinitas, CA and St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Avalon, CA. Jerry and his wife, Halina, moved to Catalina Island in early 2010 where he loved to play golf, sing in church, and spend time with family and friends. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Halina. He was blessed with three beautiful boys, Christopher, Aaron and Adam Thissen. Jerry also leaves four priceless grandsons, Christopher Jr., Jonas, Dillon and James Thissen. Jerry is survived by his mother, Jackie Thissen and his brothers and sisters; Joanne Rogers, Carrie Migliore, Judy Van Tassel, Marianne Martin, Michael Thissen, Diane Kerckhove and Steven Thissen. He is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and multitudes of friends. AHS Athletes of the Week Cristian Martinez, left, led his team too two wins this past weekend In the first game he got hit by the pitch had one double, two singles, three stolen bases and two RBIs. In the second game he got a sacrifice hit, a single, one RBI and two stolen bases. As the catcher of the team he also had six putouts and threw out to people that were stealing base. Selina Morones, right, had three hits this past weekend with two RBIs, two stolen bases and on defense she had no errors with four putouts and three assists.
