The case was being re- activated. Dr. Jose Pica became the new doc- tor at the hospital. Over 500 divers participated in the 21st Annual Underwater Cleanup. The Holly Hill House tours were permanently stopped. Over 100 friends and co-workers attended Bob Salisbury's re- tirement from the Sheriff De- partment. General First "Grandparent's Day," Feb. 23. Fake Ad: Trick waterskiers needed for the "New Waterski Show At Haypress Reservoir." Rudy Piltch was the new president of the Art Association. "National Spay Day," Feb. 27. "Avalon Humane Society" held a spay and neuter clinic. Long Beach City College offered accredited classes on the Is- land. New Yoga classes were being con- ducted at the Hotel Metro- pole. Between Feb. 23-27, Avalon got 5.85 inches of rain; (8.21 inches for month of Febru- ary), Isthmus got 2,36 inches; Airport got 4.44 inches; and Middle Ranch got 6.47 inch- es This brought the season rainfall to over 18.52 inches. Phase 1 rationing was over. Thompson Reservoir was at its capacity. February average temperature: high, 58 degrees; low, 50 de- grees; water, 57 degrees Feb- ruary tourist count 19 percent over 2000. "Les Brown and His Band of Re- nown" put on the 6th Annual Conservancy Ball in the Ca- An sino. "Antiques Roadshow" was put on by appraiser Jackie Reifen- stein, "Yacht Club." Sports Lolo Saldana Sr. was inducted into the "Catalina Island Sports Hall of Fame," which was started in 1999. The 2nd Annual "Senior Olym- pics" was held. The "12th Annual Rotary Skeeball Tournament" was held. There were 1,400 runners in four races: the marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids runs. Religion "St. Patrick's Day Dinner and Raf- fle," Catholic Church.
