am am win. in- Coed teams continue with an active season BY PATTI ENGEL The rain held off long enough for both softball games to be held on Thursday. The Sand Trap opened the evening against The Lobster Trap. Allan Vega started it off with an inside the park home run. Two base hits were followed by an RBI double from Shawn Hall then a 3 RBI home run from Derek Moreno, who came home on the triple from Tyler Engel. A total of six came home. The Lobster Trap came up to bat and was shut down on a double play ~rom Allan Vega followed by a nice play at first from Shawn Hall to end the inning. The Sand Trap brought home three more runs in the second while holding the Lobster Trap scoreless. In the third it was Lobster Traps turn to hold The Sand Trap scoreless, then put three runs on the board themselves. The Sand Trap came back in the fourth and added five to their score. In the bottom of the inning, with two outs, Scotty Rohlfsen collected three RBIs off his homerun.. The third out was collected with the next batter. In the fifth and what turned out to be the final inning, The Sand Trap batted around the order and put together Vega to have a total of twelve cross the plate. The Sand Trap came up with one last chance and had a single from Robert Reyes, a triple from Tino Rodriguez and a double from Manny Hernandez, who all scored. With two outs, Edmundo Vega made a great run- ning catch in left to record the final out of the game. Final score The Lobster Trap 9, The Sand Trap 26. For the Lobster Trap, Tino Rodriguez was three for three. Robert Reyes had two hits. With one hit each were Dave Clary, Scotty Rohlfsen, and Manny Hernandez. For the Sand Trap, Allan Vega and Curtis Hall were both five for five. Shawn Hall was four for four. Derek Moreno and Mario Chavez both had three hits. Tyler Engel, Edmundo Vega, Mirta Mora and Teresa Hernandez all had two hits. Sandy Gutierrez and Sara Hall had one hit, Ruby Gordon collected three RBIs. The second game of the night was between Straight Up Builders and undefeated Bravo's Landscaping. Straight Up Builders brought a run home in the first. Danny Alonzo hit a home run for Bravo's Landscaping in his first at bat. That was followed by a home run from Nick Flores. A base hit was followed by back to back triples from Josh Flynn and Jose Cuevas. An error, fielder Choice, a double and a triple fin- ished up the inning with nine runs scored. With one Chavez and Mirta Mora, and tri- run home, Isaac Felix sent home pies from Curtis Hall and Allan three more with his home run. Two more runs made it home for a total of six in the inning. In the third inning Straight Up Builders took over the lead with three more runs. The lead returned to Bravo's Landscaping in the bottom of the inning when triples from Danny AlonZo, Nick Flores and Jose Cuevas helped bring home five runs. In the top of the fourth Straight Up Builders brought it within one when three more runs came home. Nick Flores opened the bottom of the fourth with an inside the park home run. With two outs, two more runs had crossed the plate when time expired. Final score straight Up Builders 13, Bravo's Landscaping 17. For Straight Up Builders, Isaac Felix was three for four. Jose Madera was three for three. Chuy Sillas, Adam Olson, Jesse Gallegos and Teri Alexander all had two hits. Mickey Mann and Susie Budd had one hit each. For Bravo's Landscaping, Nick Flores was four for four. Josh Flynn, Jose Cuevas and Frank Rojo had three hits. Danny Alonzo and Anissa Flores had two hits. Santiago Martinez and Maria Reyes each had one hit. Avalon was victorious with a 2 - 0 victory in the CIF division 7 quarterfinals. The first half of the game the score was 0 - 0 with no goals being scored and great defense by both teams. When the second half began the Lancers got aggressive and attacked the Rebels made a game changing error by scoring an own goal. In the 57th minute senior cap- tain Alberto Rodriguez made a goal to seal the victory for the Lancers after a great assist by teammate Cristian Martinez.
