Lady Lancers ranked No. in playoffs
Basketball team to
play second round of
playoffs at home
BY DAVID HART
The Lady Lancers Basketball
program after the win against
Holy Martyrs goes into the play-
offs ranked No. 2.
With that ranking they will get
a first round bye in the CIF Div
5A playoffs.
The second round game will be
:played at home Saturday, Feb. 20,
at 5 pm.
Last Friday. Feb. 12, on the
last day of the regular season, the
Avalon Lady Lancers played The
Armens of Holy Martyers.
At the time, Avalon was ranked
third and Martyrs team was ranked
second. -
The game lived up to its hype
with both teams playing aggres—
sive, tough, man to man defense.
Neither team giving an inch to
the other.
There were seven lead changes
through out the game, but non
more important than Avalon’s
Taryn Minuto’s last second drive
to score the tying bucket. With
7 secs left Taryn, who was fouled
on the play, got an opportunity to
take the lead with a free throw.
Taryn rattled the free throw in and
the Lady Lancers won the game.
With that win, the Lady Lancers
took possession of the No. 2 rank-
ing going into the playoffs. Avalon
is riding a three-game winning
streak hoping to ride it to the
finals. Come support your Lady
Lancers this weekend Saturday,
Feb. 20, at 5 pm. Go Lancers!
