Letter to Editor One Less flat I wear a lot of hats in Avalon; resident, business owner, charter captain, columnist, author, founder of ABetterAvalon.com and until last week, chairman of the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Why shed that hat? Although I always sign my work and introduce myself according to the “hat” I am wearing, some community leaders felt my role as founder of ABetterAvalon.com was a “smokescreen” for the CICC. Not true. I believe in the CICC and I do not want anything I do or say as the founder of ABetterAvalon.com to impact their efforts. As a result, I have chosen to resign as the chair- man of the Board and focus on my other passions. We have an excellent president in Jim Luttjohann and he has a very supportive board. I will miss working with them, but I am excited about the freedom to inten— sify my efforts for to represent the Special Interest Group that matters most to me: Avalon.
