If you want to read more stories about Chuck and Catalina, his blog is: www. CatalinaIslandMan. cam OUR APOLOGIES TO CHUCK LIDDELL It is with much regret that the Catalina Islander failed to acknowl- edge the vast contributions of Chuck Liddell in its Year in Review Part 2 issue, Jan. 7. In the text of that issue we announced that we re- ally do regret errors or omissions, and of course we omit one of our most important contributors and dedicated Island historian. Since May 2007, Chuck has re- searched and written a weekly col- umn, nearly 200 times, never miss- ing a single deadline. The "Time Capsule" takes hours of research for each column. He brings light to past events that find a~treasured spot in the many people who expe- rienced the bygone era 75, 50, 25 The CATALINA ISLANDER and 10 years ago. He is often called upon for answers to historical questions about upcoming articles. He provides useful contacts to be interviewed and is quoted many times in historical context as well as obituaries. As a historian, this Island is greatly indebted to Mr. Liddell the historian. There is very little remunera- tion for the one who researches, archives, promotes and helps pass the history from generation to gen- eration. Having worked with many over the years in my historical doc- umentation efforts, I have found that a historian is not a vocation, but a calling. We offer our sincer- est apologies to Mr. Chuck Lid- dell. Without you, we'd be adrift in the doldrums of contemporary life. Thank you for allowing us a look into the past and acknowledg- ing our Island heritage. Dan and Angela Teckenoff 318 W.
