The Avalon Fourth of July
Celebration Committee is call-
ing all artists--youth and adult,
amateur and professional, Island
resident or visitor--to submit their
artwork for a logo that best rep-
resents Avalon's Fourth of July
Celebration. Artists may submit
more than one piece of art, and the
logo may be in any form (digital,
pen and ink, painting, etc.).
The winner will be recog-
nized for their contribution to the
celebration by having their logo
included in advertising and sou-
venir merchandise, and by partici-
pating as a VIP in Avalon's Fourth
of July Parade.

Judging
The top five logos will be
selected by committee members
and will be put to a public vote
online to determine the ultimate
winner the final week of January.

Today is last day for flag football registration
Today, Friday, Jan. 9, is the last
day to register with the for flag
football. The registration deadline
was extended until 5 p.m. today
with no late penalty. The $35 reg-
istration fee includes jersey, flags
and mouth guards. : .... , , .......

Games begin this Sunday, Jan.
11 at Joe Machado Field.
Third- to fifth-grade flag
fooball schedule: 11 a.m.practice
followed by noon game. Sixth-
to eighth-grade schedule: 1 p.m.
practice followed by 2 p.m. game.
